My job as destination wedding photographer has to be one of the very best jobs in the world. It gives me the opportunity to not only meet amazing people and document their love, but it also allows me to travel to beautiful places. Although I spend a lot of my time in brand new places, sometimes I have the opportunity to revisit the same places! This time, that place was Washington D.C. Alice and Matthew not only invited us to come to capture their wedding at the Washington Golf and Country Club in Washington D.C, but they brought us back to D.C. exactly one year after Shannon and Will’s beautiful wedding in the same area. (And can I say…just for the record? D.C weather is weird. One year ago, it was literally freezing temperatures, but this year, it was hot. Really hot. And it was gorgeous. The morning of Alice and Matthew’s wedding might have started off with torrential rain, but after it cleared up midday, it was absolute perfection. One year apart, two completely different climates!)
Alice and Matthew were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, which is right in the middle of Georgetown…one of my favorite neighborhood areas surrounding D.C. We planned ahead, and had carved out time to walk around Georgetown with the soon to be married couple prior to their ceremony. It was a buffet of photographic goodness. Georgetown is gorgeous on every corner! Alice and Matthew were so laid back and cool and excited about the area and each other. I am so thrilled with the images that we were able to capture. I’m so thankful that they valued their photographs enough to make certain that we had plenty of time to spend capturing just the two of them on their wedding day!
After our little Georgetown walkabout, we headed for the ceremony. I have photographed MANY full Catholic mass ceremonies in my life, but I must say, this is one of the most personal ones that I have every had the privilege of being able to capture. It definitely made the hour fly by…and the church was absolutely lovely.
From the ceremony, we headed off to the Washington Golf and Country Club for the reception. The location was beautiful, the staff were fantastic, the toasts made everyone cry, and the party was the kind of party that every bride dreams of for their wedding day.
Alice and Matthew, congratulations on your marriage. And thank you so much for inviting us to be a part of your wedding day! A huge thank you to the amazing Amber Holritz for shooting with me!
Loved all of the angles and mirrors in this salon!
I love how there is something different on every corner in Georgetown. When we saw this wisteria while scouting the day before, I knew we had to use it. Gorgeous.
This kind of thing makes photographing in a busy metro area really fun 🙂
This is a bride (and a church!) that knows how to make an entrance!
I wasn’t kidding when I said it was a great party!!!
