It just needs to be said, Katherine Ann and Nick’s wedding in Oxford, MD was… Epic!
Why was their wedding amazing? Let me break it down.
Whenever I travel for a destination wedding i love to stay at new and unique places. While trying to find a place to stay in Oxford I found a 70ft catamaran on AirB&B…SOLD… Anyone who really knows me will attest to the fact I have a slight love affair with living on a sailboat. Ok, it is more of an obsession if i’m being honest. Staying on this cat was probably one of my top 3 favorite places I have stayed for a destination weddings. Before we went to the rehearsal dinner we did a little scouting for the wedding day. Scouting is something that is really important to us, we like to walk around new areas and get a feel for where the light is and find hidden spots that we may want to take our couples to. Oxford is an amazing little town, it is one of those places that everyone knows everyone and I think the number of boats actually outnumbers the residents. Walking into the rehearsal dinner I knew that I would see some past and future clients but I had no idea that I would have 5 past and future couples both in the wedding party and attending the wedding. It is so amazing to have past clients in the wedding party, I try to have fun with the groomsmen and the bridal party and having past clients makes it so much easier… and more fun!
We are going to get to the images in a second, but let’s just talk about the wedding day for a few minutes. You never know what your walking into when you arrive at the location the groomsmen and the bridesmaids are getting ready. Sometimes its cramped hotel rooms or dark houses. To our surprise both the groomsmen and the bridesmaids getting ready spaces were extraordinary, both of the spaces were filled with beautiful light and they had character!! (If you are getting married, make your photographer super happy and jump for joy and find a getting ready space that is filled with light.)
Ok, lets jump to after the ceremony because we are just going to let the getting ready pictures tell the story below. Remember the slight love affair obsession i have with boats? Well, Katherine Ann and Nick got on their families boat and that is how they arrived to the reception. Just when you think that the day couldn’t be more ‘epic’, the couple shot a cannon to start dinner (i think my ears were still ringing a week later), we had an amazing sunset and everyone danced their butts off all night… oh, did I mention Katherine Ann and Nick crowd surfed.. Yeah Like I said… Epic!
Love you guys! I hope you enjoy the images from your epic day below!!
