I’m so excited to finally share with you some of my favorite images from my recent experience as a London engagement photographer. Emily and Tom are getting married in London this summer, and when they, my lovely wife, Nicole (yes, she’s an awesome wedding planner…and yes, she travels!), and Emily’s super cool mom, Susan, headed to London to do some pre-wedding planning, I was excited for the opportunity to do an engagement session for Emily and Todd at the same time!
Emily and Tom’s flight from the states to London was quite eventful…their plane filled up with smoke, and they had to delay an entire day. As a result, our shooting schedule changed just a bit. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with what troopers we were! They went straight to being photographed within hours of their arrival in the country!
Destination engagement sessions are fun for many reasons (I mean…I get to travel to cool places and hang out with awesome people…what’s NOT fun about that??), but one of the things I love the most is the behind the scenes look I get at my couples’ lives. Don’t get me wrong…when I am in London shooting engagement photos, I am happy to photograph the iconic London sights…but those aren’t always the images that make me happiest. I love the real stuff.
Our session was actually spread out over the course of three days…Day One began with a train ride and a quick breakfast, and then they were off to meet with florists, while I scouted a bit in Chelsea.
After their meetings, we met back up to start shooting at a bar. Seemed like a great place to start…who doesn’t love a bar?! Like I said… I like the real stuff 🙂
After indulging in a tasty beverage, we grabbed a cab and headed to catch the last of the light at Big Ben.
I love how expressive they both are!
I can only imagine how exhausted they must’ve been by this point!
Moving on to Day Two! Day Two was full of tastings and meetings in the morning, we met up after they wrapped up their business, and headed back into London. We photographed around the London Eye and the Horse Guards building for a bit…
(love the mood in these two images.)
We had a moment of royal excitement 😉
And then we headed to the oyster bar at Harrods for oysters and champagne 🙂
And that was a wrap for Day Two!
On Day Three, our final day to photograph in London, we started by touring their venue, The Hedsor House. I’m super excited about the opportunity to photograph there this summer… it was lovely!
Then they were off to another tasting, so I had some time to myself to explore the city. It was a typical English winter day…cold and dreary…so when I met back up with them after their meetings, I thought another bar would be a great place to start 😉 Tom wasn’t feeling super great at this point, but he was a rockstar and powered through it. I think this sequence of them is absolutely adorable.
We walked around for just a bit…
We hit up a candy store for some favorite childhood candies…
And we wrapped up Day Three, and prepared to head home 🙁
I loved hanging out with Emily and Tom (and Susan!) in London. I can’t wait for the wedding this summer! Excited to hang out with you guys again soon!!
(And just for fun… here are a couple of super fun images that Nicole grabbed of me shooting. Thought you might enjoy seeing a bit of the behind the scenes!)
