After spending a few months photographing weddings here in the states, we were very excited to head back to London! We loved the quaint backcountry vibe of the Catskills, and the beach resort feel of Hilton Head…and it was lovely to shoot a wedding in our own backyard! But a destination wedding photographer is always so excited to see what the next location brings.
And we were SO excited about Emily and Tom’s wedding at the Hedsor House in Buckinghamshire! It had not been too terribly long since we had traveled to the UK to capture Emily and Tom’s engagement session, but the majority of our shooting time during that visit was spent in the city…and we were excited to spend a bit of time photographing in a different part of the country!
We were also excited because this was the THIRD wedding in a row where we had had the opportunity to work with Ian’s amazing wife Nicole from Verge Events! We seriously love it when someone we trust is running the show. It makes it so easy for us to do our jobs 🙂
Hedsor House was a wonderfully unique shooting experience for us. The getting ready rooms were phenomenal; the grounds were fabulous; and there was a beautiful view waiting around every single corner.
The room where Emily and her girls prepared for the day might be the most amazing getting ready room we have every photographed in. It was spacious (which makes it easier for us to maneuver into corners and gives us more vantage points from which to shoot). It was so well-lit (we will never complain about too much light in a getting ready room!). And there were gorgeous details in every corner!
It was difficult to decide where to photograph Emily’s dress. Sometimes it is tough finding an interesting and unique place to photograph the wedding dress near the getting ready room. Not so in this case… the difficulty was not in finding a spot… the difficulty was deciding which spot we wanted the most!
And just as a side note, while we’re featuring Emily’s attire… let’s just take a moment to worship this particular pair of shoes. Yum.
Emily and her sisters, Sarah and Abby, are truly dear to our hearts. We love them very much…and we really love how much they love each other. Its always wonderful when you actually like your family 😉
Sometimes you just need to take a picture in a bathtub. We totally get it. 😉
And then it was time…
Love the layers and the light here so much.
So so beautiful.
Meanwhile…in the library… Tom and his boys are having a quick toast before go time;)
We thought this staircase was pretty fantastic 🙂
Love a ceremony location with quick access to a balcony… I love being able to switch vantage points easily 🙂
The beautiful new couple!
One of the only things that Tom really really wanted on his wedding day was to leave in a classic Jaguar. After a few snags, this amazing wedding team was able to surprise Tom with this gorgeous car for the new couple’s exit!
It’s so nice to work on a gorgeous property… a quick 30 second drive down the lane, and we’ve got a perfect place to grab a few portraits with this gorgeous car!
We didn’t have a ton of time with the new couple for portraits..so it was lovely to be on a property with a variety of gorgeous locations all within a short walk!
Cocktail hour on the lawn was a very good idea.
The ceremony site was flipped for the reception…and the details were absolutely stunning.
Love all of this laughter so much!
These moments at sunset are lovely for so many reasons. Having a few moments alone with the person you just committed your life to is definitely a must during a busy reception.
We love when people choose a unique song for their first dance. Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton was a fantastic choice.
These lyrics make us smile:
You’re as smooth as Tennessee whiskey
You’re as sweet as strawberry wine
You’re as warm as a glass of brandy
And honey, I stay stoned on your love all the time
Good stuff 🙂
We found the boys back in the library celebrating with another toast 😉
We love it when a reception room is lit in a beautiful and interesting way. It adds so much character to the reception space!
I love a bride who knows what she wants… Emily wanted a pink flamingo at her wedding… so she brought one with her from the states!
Enthusiastic bridesmaids are the best!
You know its a serious party when the limbo tie comes out!
Love the emotion that comes through on the dance floor.
It was such a lovely day…and such a fun night! Emily and Tom, we love you guys lots! Can’t wait to see you again!
And we can’t forget to thank the amazing team who made this day happen! We couldn’t have done it without you.
