As destination wedding photographers, we are prepared to travel all over the world to capture our clients’ wedding experiences… we’ve recently spent time in the Catskills, NY, Hilton Head, SC, and London, and we loved every minute of it. But every once in awhile we have the opportunity to capture a wedding in our own backyard. That was the case with Shelby and Josh’s wedding…after much deliberation and a few different destination changes, Shelby and Josh ended up choosing to get married in their own hometown…which happened to also be our hometown!
We met Josh and Shelby a few years back, and fell in love with them immediately. They both are absolutely beautiful…and as cheesy as it might sound to say it, they are beautiful on both the inside and the outside. They’re the kind of people that you know have good hearts within moments of meeting them. We did their engagement session here in Asheville, and it barely felt like working…more like hanging out with cool new friends 😉
We wake up excited on wedding days when we have a strong connection with our couples…it’s so awesome when everyone is already comfortable with each other. This is one of the reasons we love engagement sessions and rehearsal dinners…the better our connection with the couple and their friends and family, the smoother the wedding day will go! We’d had the opportunity to get to know Josh and Shelby well, so we walked into their wedding day super excited to hang out with them while capturing their day.
Then we walked into the getting ready space, and were greeted with lovely and interesting light, as well as beautiful people…basically a perfect start to the day! (Isn’t Shelby SOOOO lovely?!)
Things were looking good in Josh’s getting ready room, too 😉
Shelby’s girls got Shelby into her dress…and it was time for the First Look!
These two were seriously adorable when they first saw each other. They’re completely crazy about each other…and it shows!

Like we said…they made our job pretty darn easy.

Shelby and Josh chose Olivette as their venue…and when you see this outdoor ceremony site, you will immediately understand why. It’s so beautiful. Shelby’s entrance with her dad was absolutely stunning.

A quick moment to celebrate and bustle…and it was time for the reception.

Every detail was selected to compliment Olivette’s natural beauty…and we think the final product was fantastic.
We did a little happy dance when we saw the gorgeous natural light on the dance floor. Love love love!
It is such a privilege to be trusted to capture moments like these. So much emotion, so much love, so many memories. We are so grateful for the opportunity to capture them. 
Formalities out of the way, it was time for a sunset stroll. Our little walk outside serves two purposes: 1. Photographers love a good sunset, and as destination wedding photographers, we enjoy seeing sunsets all over the world 😉 and 2. New couples need a chance to breathe and chat and enjoy one another before the partying begins. If you can schedule a little moment like this in your day, we highly recommend it!
And then it’s time to party 😉
