2020 was not a great year for wedding photographers that travel 😉 We had very little opportunity to get out of town last year, and we are so excited for 2021… we have missed shooting the world! Recently, we were talking about that one time that we drove into a hurricane to shoot a wedding weekend…and we realized that we never shared Abby & Joe’s wedding story. Time to remedy that 😉
On Abby & Joe’s wedding morning, the sun was shining. It was a perfect blue sky day. The storm had passed, and we all breathed a sigh of relief as we realized that all was well. We arrived at Wrightsville Manor and were immediately surrounded by people ready to celebrate. We had made it. Abby & Joe we’re going to get married today!
The Bridal Suite at Wrightsville Manor is absolutely fantastic. It’s a big space with tons of gorgeous light. It was the perfect setting for the morning.
There was so much joy in the room. The entire day felt like a miracle, and that feeling permeated every moment.
Abby is always stunning, but the magic of wedding day left her absolutely glowing. We get a little teary just thinking about it 😉
Isn’t she gorgeous?
Â
While Abby and her girls spent the morning drinking champagne and enduring the rigors of hair and makeup, Joe and his crew had a slightly different experience. Beers on the beach is a very good way to start your wedding day 😉
One of the best things about being wedding photographers that travel is that the view always changes. We love that.
Beach time over. It’s time to get serious about getting ready.
Well, after we watch some football and drink another beer 😉
Â
Meanwhile…
Right on cue, Joe and his band of mighty men arrived on scene.
Final touches. And one more beer.
All of the stress of the previous week, all of the morning hustle and bustle, all of the fear and the worry… the moment Abby grabbed Joe’s butt during the first look… all of that drama disappeared with a wave of laughter and kisses. It was such a perfect moment 😉
Dorian left behind perfect sunny skies…and absolutely scorching temperatures.  A quick break back inside for some a/c resulted in this image we might have never seen otherwise. We’re not complaining 😉
Lashes for days. (on both of them!)
At this point, we are so excited that these moments are here. There was so much emotion in every moment, and our cameras were eating it up.
It all happened so slowly. And then it happened so fast. One second – we were standing downtown in torrential rains wondering if there was even a chance of this wedding happening. The next second – we are lining up to head down the aisle.
It was magic.
There were tears. There was laughter.
There were promises of forever.
And there was a kiss.
Ladies and gentlemen… Mr. & Mrs!!
It was officially time to party. And can we just talk about how fantastic the details from this wedding are? Verge Events and team rocked. Hard. This cocktail hour was to die for.
A few more quick portraits.
and the dancing begins!
Nicole put her whole soul into this wedding. She used her wedding magic to keep us all grounded and to make the day perfect. Tears of joy and relief came…and they were beautiful.
Perfect blue skies lasted well into the night.
Caught our lovebirds trying to sneak some alone time. We just stalked them from the bushes for a bit. That’s not creepy is it? Toasts are always a lovely and emotional time, but are also sometimes difficult to photograph in an interesting way. Not at this wedding. Perfect light and location added so much depth to these images.
so. much. happy.a couple of special dances…
and it was time to open up the dance floor!it was pure celebration.
And that’s a wrap, folks. Abby and Joe drove off into their future in a shower of sparks. And just like the rest of the day… it was beautiful.
It was a good good day. And when it ended, we were all exhausted. And we were thankful.Â
Abby and Joe, thank you guys so much for trusting us to capture your wedding weekend. We loved every moment. If you ever need anything, we will be there.  Not even a hurricane can hold us back 😉 Miss you guys…we should hug soon!
